| Completing a Specification Clause |
Specification clauses all follow a similar general pattern; but different applications and products each require different types of detail appropriate to the specification.
1. Include the following essential details:
--------● product type
--------● colour / pattern / reference code (include F, K, FD or CC prefix, or -MIC suffix, as appropriate)
--------● surface finish / texture
--------● grade
--------● sheet size
--------● fire rating
--------● wet or dry area
--------● substrate (grade; performance required; thickness)
--------● backing (to balance surface material as recommended)
--------● joint treatment
--------● edge treatment (postformed; square edged; lipped; etc)
--------● fixing method
Whenever relevant, refer to specific performance codes under appropriate national / international standards systems.
2. Where possible, use NBS Specification Clauses, ensuring that all details are complete. The following NBS clauses are relevant when specifying various Formica® products:

Clauses: 10, 120
L20 Doors / Shutters / Hatches
Clauses: 20, 230
N10 General Fixtures / Furnishings / Equipment

3. Where no NBS clause exists, devise your own specification clause covering the essential details.
