Carbon Footprint and Certification Schemes

Formica Laminate and the Carbon Footprint

Reducing Formica® Laminate’s carbon footprint is a key component of our sustainability approach. We are convinced that improving our environmental footprint is not only the right thing to do, but it is also essential to the continuity of the brand.

The road to reducing the carbon footprint starts with the replacement of the most impactful inputs and the improvement of our products and processes efficiency. Moreover, we focus on the products’ durability and composition. We believe in “do more with less”, guaranteeing the quality of our products while using less resources.

As part of and based on our certified LCA management system, we have published EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations). An EPD is a document which transparently communicates the environmental impact of a product over its lifetime, calculated using the LCA method. Our LCA management system (EPD process) is certified by an accredited third party. The certification covers the entire process of an EPD development and publication.

Formica® Laminate single product EPDs are regularly updated, please check the most recent version on formica-asia.info.

We are certified according to the following certification schemes:

GREENGUARD Certification

GREENGUARD Certification is a standard that includes health-based criteria for additional chemicals and also requires lower total VOC emissions levels to ensure that products are acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities. Formica® Laminates, Formica Cora®, ColorCore®, Compact® and Formica® FRguard®+ are certified in Asia according to the GREENGUARD Certification and GREENGUARD Gold Certification standards for Indoor Air Quality.

Singapore Green Certifications

Formica® Laminates and Formica® Compact® Grade Laminate are Singapore Green Label certified by the Singapore Environment Council under “Environmentally Preferred Surface Covering”. Formica products are also officially certified under the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) scheme and have achieved the highest 4-Ticks "Leader" rating from the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC).
